Bachelor of Science Degree

(128 credits)

Objectives

All Bachelor of Science degrees are designed to help you achieve several goals:

  1. As a student, you will have a broad working knowledge of our world and be able to effectively interact it.
  2. As a Christian, you will be able to wrestle with complex theological issues, to be able to accurately exegete the Bible, and to be able to submit to its authority by applying it appropriately to life choices as well as decision making in the church. You should also have a self-sustaining and growing passion to know God, pursue personal holiness, and promote the growth and health of Christ's church.
  3. As a leader, you will gain a particular expertise sufficient for entry-level professional church ministries or entry into a graduate seminary program, be able to effectively communicate God's truth to our world, and demonstrate servant leadership.

Description

The Bachelor of Science is a professional degree which can be completed in four years. It is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in full-time ministry. The BS offers additional flexibility for students who wish to customize their programs for their specific interests and goals.

A Bachelor of Science degree has three components:

  1. General Education Core, a 40-credit series of courses which covers a broad range of languages, humanities, social sciences, and other general studies. A special feature of the BS General Education core is additional elective hours.
  2. Bible Major, a 45-credit series of courses which progresses from introductory to advanced studies in theology and the Bible. A special feature of the BS Bible major is additional elective hours.
  3. Ministry Program, a 43-credit series of courses based on the specific field or fields of ministry you choose as a student to pursue. The ministry programs available at BBC are explained in detail on pages 42-59
