Biblical Studies Program

Program Objectives

The Biblical Studies major is designed to help you accomplish two primary goals:

  1. You will gain a broad knowledge of the Bible, which is essential both for improved Christian character and a success in every kind of ministry.
  2. You will develop the basic ministry skills for application of biblical principles in a wide variety of leadership roles in church and non-church settings.

Description

The Biblical Studies major is combined with the General Education core and the Bible major to complete the program requirements of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. The major is made up of five components:

  1. Christian Ministries Core, a series of courses which give you exposure to a broad range of ministry fields and develop your ministry skills and outlook in a systematic way.
  2. Applied Bible Core, a series of courses designed to teach essential skills for teaching Bible and theology in ministry settings.
  3. Guided Electives, a 'menu' of courses in more specified ministry skills, from which you can chooses based on your personal goals and interests.
  4. Biblical Studies Electives, an opportunity for you to focus your studies on biblical and theological issues which are of special interest to you and to strengthen your ability to properly understand and explain the Word of God.
  5. Practicum & Research, opportunities for you to learn through practical teaching, oversight, and research experience.
