Christian MinistryProgram -
Adult Ministry Major

Program Objectives

The Adult Ministry major is designed to help you accomplish several goals:

  1. You will develop a sound philosophy of adult ministry based upon biblical principles and the developmental, educational, and spiritual needs of adults.
  2. You will be able to develop and teach effective Bible lessons for adults in various formats like small groups, Sunday School, seminars, etc.
  3. You will be able to effectively organize, lead, and administrate an adult ministry program.
  4. You will be able to recruit, train, and motivate the workers needed to run a productive adult ministry.
  5. You will develop the humility and servant’s heart necessary to work with other church staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers to accomplish the mission and goals of a congregation.

Description

The Adult Ministry major is combined with the General Education core and the Bible major to complete the program requirements of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. The major is made up of five components:

  1. Christian Ministries Core, a series of courses which give you exposure to a broad range of ministry fields and develop your ministry skills and outlook in a systematic way.
  2. Adult Ministry Core, a series of courses designed to teach essential skills for anyone working in the field of adult ministry.
  3. Guided Electives, a “menu” of courses, any of which would prove valuable in the field of adult ministry, from which you can choose based on your personal goals and interests.
  4. Ministry Electives, an opportunity for you to diversify your curriculum by taking courses in a ministry field other than adult ministry or to augment your adult ministry degree by taking additional courses in that field.
  5. Internship, an opportunity for you to learn adult ministry through practical field experience.
