Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministry

(Children`s Ministry Major)

Program Objectives

The Children’s Ministry major is designed to help you accomplish several goals:

  1. You will develop a sound philosophy of children’s ministry based upon biblical principles and the developmental , educational, and spiritual needs of children.
  2. You will be able to develop and teach effective Bible lessons for the different age groups across the span of children’s ministry.
  3. You will be able to effectively plan, organize, lead, and administrate a ministry to meet the needs of children and their families in a church and its community.
  4. You will be able to recruit, train, and motivate the teams of workers needed to run a productive children’s ministry.
  5. You will develop the ability to work with other church staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and church members to accomplish the mission and goals of a congregation.

Description

The Children’s Ministry major is combined with the General Education core and the Bible major to complete the program requirements of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. The major is made up of several five components:

  1. Christian Ministries Core, a series of courses which give you exposure to a broad range of ministry fields and develop your ministry skills and outlook in a systematic way.
  2. Children’s Ministry Core, a series of courses designed to teach essential skills for anyone working in the field of children’s ministry.
  3. Guided Electives, a “menu” of courses, any of which would prove valuable in the field of children’s ministry, from which you can choose based on your personal goals and interests.
  4. Ministry Electives, an opportunity for you to diversify your curriculum by taking courses in a ministry field other than children’s ministry or to augment your children’s ministry degree by taking additional courses in that field.
  5. Internship, an opportunity for you to learn children’s ministry through practical field experience.
