Christian Ministry Program -
Christian Education Major

Program Objectives

The Christian Education major is designed to help you accomplish several goals:

  1. You will develop a sound philosophy of Christian education based upon biblical principles and a desire to make disciples of all people in our modern context.
  2. You will be able to develop and teach Bible lessons for all age groups using effective educational models, methods, and strategies.
  3. You will be able to effectively plan, organize, lead, and administrate a Christian education program to meet the needs of individuals and families in a church and its community.
  4. You will be able to recruit, train, and motivate the teams of workers needed to run a productive Christian education ministry;
  5. You will develop the ability to work with other church staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and church members to accomplish the mission and goals of a congregation.

Description

The Christian Education major is combined with the General Education core and the Bible major to complete the program requirements of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. The major is made up of five components:

  1. Christian Ministries Core, a series of courses which give you exposure to a broad range of ministry fields and develop your ministry skills and outlook in a systematic way.
  2. Christian Education Core, a series of courses designed to teach essential skills for anyone working in the field of Christian education.
  3. Guided Electives, a “menu” of courses, any of which would prove valuable in the field of Christian education, from which you can choose based on your personal goals and interests.
  4. Ministry Electives, an opportunity for you to diversify your curriculum by taking courses in a ministry field other than Christian education or to augment your Christian education degree by taking additional courses in that field.
  5. Internship, an opportunity for you to learn Christian education through practical field experience.
