Program Objectives

The preaching ministry major is designed to help you accomplish several goals:

  1. You will be provided with the tools to develop Christian character necessary for effective ministry.
  2. You will know how to organize and conduct your life for effective ministry.
  3. You will be trained to preach relevant biblical sermons.
  4. You will be equipped to handle basic pastoral taskes (e.g. baptisms, weddings, hospital visitation, etc.)
  5. You will be acquainted with discipling/mentoring through small groups and one-on-one relationships.
  6. You will be introduced to leadership and administration.

Description

The Preaching Ministry major is combined with the General Education core and the Bible major to complete the program requirements of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. The major is made up of five components:

  1. Christian Ministries Core, a series of courses which give you exposure to a broad range of ministry fields and develop your ministry skills and outlook in a systematic way.
  2. Preaching Ministry Core, a series of courses designed to teach essential skills for anyone working in the field of preaching ministry.
  3. Guided Electives, a “menu” of courses, any of which would prove valuable in the field of preaching, from which you can choose based on your personal goals and interests.
  4. Ministry Electives, an opportunity for you to diversify your curriculum by taking courses in a ministry field other than preaching ministry or to augment your preaching ministry degree by taking additional courses in that field.
  5. Internship, an opportunity for you to learn preaching ministry through practical field experience.
