AS Church Leadership Program

Program Objectives

The Church Leadership concentration is designed to help you accomplish several goals:

  1. You will be able to function effectively as an elder or deacon of a congregation.
  2. You will be able to cooperate with other leaders to formulate, oversee, and administer the overall program of the church.
  3. You will be prepared to understand, appreciate, and participate in the chain of authority and responsibility in a local church.

Description

The Church Leadership concentration is combined with the General Education core and the Bible core to complete the program requirements of an Associate of Science degree. The concentration is made up of four components:

  1. Christian Ministries Core, a series of courses which give you exposure to a range of ministry fields and develop your ministry skills and outlook in a systematic way.
  2. Church Leadership Core, a series of courses designed to teach basic skills for anyone working in church leadership.
  3. Guided Electives, a “menu” of courses, any of which would prove valuable in church leadership, from which you can choose based on your personal goals and interests.
  4. Ministry Electives, an opportunity for you to diversify your curriculum by taking courses in a ministry field other than church leadership or to augment your church leadership degree by taking additional courses in that field.
