AS Intercultural Studies Program

Program Objectives

The Intercultural Studies concentration is designed to help you accomplish two goals:

  1. You will develop a cultural awareness that will enhance your effectiveness in ministry.
  2. You will be introduced to a general knowledge of the skills needed to serve effectively in cross-cultural settings.

Description

The Intercultural Studies concentration is combined with the General Education core and the Bible core to complete the program requirements of an Associate of Science degree. The concentration is made up of four components:

  1. Christian Ministries Core, a series of courses which give you exposure to a range of ministry fields and develop your ministry skills and outlook in a systematic way.
  2. Intercultural Studies Core, a series of courses designed to teach basic skills for anyone working in the field of intercultural ministry.
  3. Guided Electives, a “menu” of courses, any of which would prove valuable in the field of intercultural ministry, from which you can choose based on your personal goals and interests.
  4. Ministry Electives, an opportunity for you to diversify your curriculum by taking courses in a ministry field other than intercultural ministry or to augment your intercultural studies degree by taking additional courses in that field.
