Often times, we don’t hear these terms in the Church. However, spiritual formation and discipleship is the foundation of our daily walk with Christ. The day we chose to walk with Christ was also the day we decided to become like Him with each passing day…whether we knew it or not. Spiritual Formation and Discipleship is a responsibility of those who follow Jesus.
Imagine planting a seed or transplanting a succulent for moment. When you plant that seed, do you leave it alone? Do you wipe your hands and be done with it? Do you believe that if you leave it alone it will grow? No, we all know in order for something to grow it must be cultivated.
The same goes for our walk with looking like Jesus, we nurtured with our own personal growth or encouragement by others.
As believers, we have an objective. We are to strive to be like Christ for the rest of our days. No matter where we are in our walk with Jesus none of us can escape from becoming like Jesus.
That’s where Spiritual Formation and Discipleship majors fill the need.
Students who graduate with this degree will be able to lead and develop ministries across adult ministry demographics to help guide the paths of those they serve to be like Jesus.
